1st Saturday- NRA Pistol Silhouette - Contact: Mike McGuire 458-3109

Targets are Steel 1/10th size chickens (40 Yds), pigs (50 Yds), turkeys (75 Yds), and Rams (100 Yds). 10 of each targets, 1 shot per.
Pistols are 22 long rifle caliber, scoped or iron sights, this is the small bore hunters' pistol category.

Hunter Pistol Category uses centerfire pistol cartridges, scoped or iron sights.
Classification runs from "B" to "Master Class".

2nd Saturday- IHMSA Pistol Silhouette

Targets same as NRA except chickens are at 25 Yds.
Pistols and categories run from 22 long rifle to handguns firing rifle cartridges, standing to lying down.

These first two are very similar, requiring steel targets to be knocked down - similar to carnival shooting galleries, but at longer distances. Generally speaking, these matches are best shot with long barreled pistols, from out-of-the-box factory stock to full custom. Good fun, and initial monetary outlay can be relatively low.

3rd Sunday- Practical Pistol - Contact: John Burnette 803-0039

Handguns of 9mm/38 cal or larger
Targets are steel human sized silhouettes down to 8" circles.
Course of fire is usually around a group of targets requiring 17 to 20 hits.

4th Sunday (Odd Months)- Varmint Match - Contact: Karl Welker 378-3391

Targets are steel silhouette of Prairie Dogs, Foxes, Crows, Ground Hogs and Coyotes. Course of fire is from 200 yds to 405 yds, usually 40 targets set in 10 shot relays.
Rifles used are anything from 223 to 20 cal with bullet weight limit of 120 grains.
Magnums are not allowed. Most shooters us the 22-250.

This is a bench-rest type match, involving shooting at (very) small steel targets at long distances. The match is designed to give the challenges of and require the skill level necessary to hunt varmint animals in open country.
